The Aliens
By Annie Baker

Directed by Danielle Szabo
Featuring:  Ben Claus, Scott Jackoway, and Jasper Johnson

April 28-30 2017

Production Photos by Gracie Meyer

The Aliens is the story of Jasper and KJ, two old friends, who spend their days hanging out behind the local coffee shop.  New employee and high schooler Evan befriends the men, who quickly take a liking to him.  Jasper and KJ impart their sometimes dubious wisdom unto young Evan as they all deal with love and loss, pain and friendship.

Doing a play outside in Chicago in April is not for the faint of heart, and the cast, crew, and audience of The Aliens showed their heart through a torrential downpour.  Though the rain limited much audience attendance, and thunderstorms the next day forced the last show to be canceled, The Aliens was an artistic triumph for NoMads.

When white and American are usually synonymous with privilege, Annie Baker shows us that there are more facets to the failing of the American Dream.
